SURGERY DATE

I just wanted to let you all know that the biopsy results were just like we hoped. We are still dealing with DCIS, and not an invasive type Cancer (I personally thank God for that). I was correct in thinking that the reason they wanted to give Mom the results in person was because they wanted to deliver to her in person the unfortunate news that she needs a double mastectomy.

Both surgeons have worked together and have scheduled Mom's surgery for February 27th. We'll keep you posted on any new information. We have a few more scheduled appointments at the City of Hope, but will most likely not have to be there very much until her surgery.

I can't tell you how much we appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Mom will be in the hospital for at least 2 days following the surgery and it will take her at least a month to function somewhat normally. As you can imagine, she will most likely need several months before she's going to feel like getting out.

I'll definitely post another blog if there's any more info before the surgery.
Thanks y'all. :)

  1. Tell Jeanie that 2 days in the hospital is NOT ENOUGH!! She needs some freakin' time to just be waited on by everyone. I did enjoy this post because I just know now that she's going to be fine, absolutely fine. I am grateful for her faith and strength though all of this. Jeanie is amazing...comforting all of us when she, herself needs the comfort. Tell her yay, good news-not "C" not going anywhere.

  2. BTW, I'll dig the hole and plant the pomgrante tree. I'll get her a cross and we'll decorate it. Maybe we can have a service because the resurrected body will have her breasts back. I love you and as you can tell, I'm a little giddy about better news. Did you pass the urinary calculi? Haven't you filled your quota for sick?

  4. Jeanie,

    Alissa,
It just occurred to me that you guys might benefit from a website called Caring Bridge. You should check it out. I thought of you when I read this... "every month, over 1 million people use CaringBridge to stay connected during a hospitalization, cancer treatment, surgery and recovery, a significant accident or injury, a premature birth, while waiting for a transplant, or while caring for an elderly parent. These families share information and receive love and support for a wide array of medical conditions. Spread the word and share CaringBridge with a friend, colleague, or loved one today." It is basically a blog, but I follow one already for a young girl that is in the hospital long term (her mother does the journal) & it is GREAT. This blog is already a wonderful thing, but I am wondering if CaringBridge might be even better for your situation! Here's the link www.caringbridge.org also, if you want to see one already in progress, there is a link to Ashley's on my blog www.johnsonhouse4.blogspot.com Don't feel pressured in any way, I just thought you should know about it!

    Blessings,

  5. Wanna' baby lamb named, Tuff? She was stuck and Kiely pulled her out. She sooo appreciates us and loves our neck and doesn't make a peep. Well, she is a little young at only 2 days old. Kiely said when she pulled her out she was kickin' and wigglin' like crazy. She was happy to be out and Tuff. She has a "tuff" of white fluffy hair on the top of her little black body, it's her toupee. You inspire us to name a little lamb after you, Jeanie!

Skip and Hop! You need to skip and hop. No, I'm not naming "them" like I did mine. "Floppy and Bob" lymi Susan

  6. Alissa you write absolutely beautifully. I know your Mom knows how lucky she is to have you. I totally agree with her, you're an absolute Angel yourself. Thank you for this, I've known Jeanie since high school and she is truly one of my favorite people in the world. From the outpouring of love and prayers she's receiving it's obvious there are a whole bunch of us out here who love your mom. Jan Pavletich
