A DAY OF THANKS

Mom decided it would be a great idea to have some friends over to sing a few hymns in thanks to God for her successful surgery. We had a house full of our church family members and a few dear friends. It was a lovely day.

After the day was over, a few of us sat in the bedroom around Mom in her bed visiting about the day and this experience in it's entirety. Betty brought to my attention something that I had noticed, but hadn't realized (if that makes any sense)... Mom is back. Ever since the diagnosis of Breast Cancer was dropped on my Mom in November, she has been a different person. She didn't have the same optimism and happiness that we knew and enjoyed in her personality. She was different...but not anymore. She now enjoys the same lightness of heart, happiness, zeal and sense of humor from before her diagnosis that we all enjoy so much. Mom has said frequently that 'There was a dark cloud' over her every single day, from the minute she woke up in the morning since her diagnosis...now that dark cloud is gone. She feels like she's on the other side of this journey. She's cancer free.
