Hello Everyone!
The reason you haven't had a blog for a while is because Mom and I decided it would be great for HER to write the next blog...and she's been SOOOOO busy playing FarmTown on Facebook that it took her a while to get around to it. LOL
Mom's even doing so good that she sang at our cousin Kelli's wedding!!! Here's a picture of Mom singing 'At Last' right before Kelli walked down the aisle...
She's doing AMAZINGLY better...here's what she wrote for y'all to read:
dear friends and family..
alissa told me that from now on....i need to update the blog..myself. lol.. i am doing so much better.
today is the 3 month mark.
i am soooo thankful. this is a much better side to be on.
i wanted you to know...that i am doing SOOO WELL...that i planted 6 rose bushes, with a shovel...by myself.... today.
well.. that's not the exact story... he he. they were miniatures...but hey,..i did do it myself !
in this recovery...i have found that i am still making headway. i am continuing to feel stronger and better each week. not each day..but i notice each week that i am able to do a little bit more.
it gives me so much hope. i knew all of you would be so happy to hear this news.
i love you all so much. your prayers and calls and cards have been amazing. i honestly depended on all of you and your love throughout this ordeal. and it HAS been an ordeal !
i have some really good news to share with all of you. i had my consultation with my oncology Dr. last week at 'THE CITY OF HOPE',.. her name is Melanie palomares MD.,M.S.
she is assistant professor for the 'division of population sciences and medical oncology.
she was sooo thoroughal...she asked me sooo many questions...all about my family. also extended family...not just immediate.
she questioned me in detail about all family members. it was interesting. i learned a lot.
after i answered her questions...she basically shared with me that she didn't think that i would be encouraged to take the drug 'tamoxifen'...i was thrilled. i had already thought about this, and i had really didn't choose to take anything that had serious side effects like this drug has.
she shared with me that i only have a
1-2 % chance of reoccurance of B.C.
if i would have saved a breast..then..it would have been 40 % chance of reoccurance.
i know there are a lot of good reasons women have chosen to take this drug. i just don't want to.
as i was leaving dr. palomares' office...i shared with her that i felt joyus.. and very thankful. i also told her that i am sure that she has had to tell other cancer survivors something very different than what she told me. which made me sad.
i remain so grateful.
sooo.. i am doing better...and i am now driving..and also shopping..which makes me happy.. ( :
i've even done a little cooking , lately.
i want to thank you all again. i have had some friends visit...and i love that. you are welcome to come see me.
i am getting involved in fundraising for cancer. it's something i have never done before. i never felt the 'calling'..as i do
now !!
i am all signed up for 'relay for life'...it will be in sept. i will be gently asking for donations..it all goes to finding a CURE.
we need one.
i will be having my third surgery in aug. i will blog the date later. i will be asking for your prayers again at that time !
this is soooo not fun. ( :
love you all.... and thanks from the bottom of my heart for all that you do for me.
